Josh Gordon’s Suspension Means it’s Johnny Manziel’s Time
I feel your pain Cleveland Browns fans. You were sitting back after last night feeling great about how the draft went, looking at your future franchise quarterback in Johnny Manziel, and preparing for an exciting season.
And then, just like that, it all took a massive hit when we found out that Josh Gordon may be suspended for the entire 2014 NFL season.
So what does this all mean for the Browns? Are they completely done for the upcoming season? Should we not even talk about them anymore? Absolutely not. What this means is even better and even more exciting. It means that the Browns are going to need playmaking, and they’ll need someone who can take over games and lead this team without their star wide receiver.
You know who that player is too, and he’s been called “JFF.” It’s Manziel time, sooner than later.
I know that the Browns are going to have an open competition between Manziel and Brian Hoyer, and while I fully believe Hoyer has earned his chance, I think Manziel is what they need. This isn’t the type of guy who’s going to go in there and compete at anything but the highest level, or show any signs of being scared of playing at the next level. The fact that Manziel will put his neck out there to win a game for this team will go a long way, and we’ll likely see that from the word go in the 2014 NFL season.
Browns fans, whether you wanted it or not, I think that the star wide out who is now (likely) suspended for the entire year has set it up so that this is going to be Johnny Manziel’s time immediately.
