Because of a last-minute trade up to the final pick in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, there were three quarterbacks taken on Thursday night. That still leaves almost 10 more on the board and at least half a dozen teams in need of a new signal-caller. Thus, we take a look at five possibilities for passers on the second day of the NFL Draft.

Some are projecting the LSU product to go in the fourth round, but considering NFL teams have a knack for taking multiple quarterbacks in a row in the middle rounds, he could easily go in the third. Speculation now is he’s a target of the Buccaneers and Titans, who aren’t in desperate need of a new passer, but would definitely like to have one to develop as a rookie this year.

The Cardinals decided not to take a quarterback in the first round, so they are very likely to do so in the second or third. If they can get a winner like McCarron near the end of day two, they’ll definitely pull the trigger. Bruce Arians needs a successor for Carson Palmer and McCarron is more NFL-ready than most people think.

Many third-round mock drafts have the Texans taking their quarterback with the 65th overall pick and everyone sees under-the-radar Pittsburgh passer Tom Savage as the target. Assuming Houston waits one more round for a signal-caller, don’t be surprised to see Savage taken before some other, more popular names.

Even though the Jets took Geno Smith last year and signed Michael Vick this offseason, there are a lot of rumors suggesting they’re strongly considering this Eastern Illinois quarterback in the second round. With this stock rising by the minute, the Jets may be forced to take Garappolo in the second round to avoid missing out on him.

Although everyone in Oakland is being silent now, there were lots of reports earlier the Raiders would target Derek Carr in the second round, assuming he was still on the board. They got Matt Schaub, but they’re apparently not sold on him, so don’t expect Carr to leave the state of California if he’s still on the board when the Raiders are on the clock at No. 36.
