After months of anticipation, the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft lived up to the hype on Thursday night as there was plenty of trades and surprises to talk about. From the Cleveland Browns trading for Johnny Manziel (while being influenced by a homeless man apparently) to Jadeveon Clowney going No. 1 to the Houston Texans, here's a look at the top 10 storylines from Round 1 of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Obviously, the Carolina Panthers were in need of help at wide receiver after departing ways with Steve Smith, but did they make a mistake by selecting Kelvin Benjamin over Marqise Lee? Only time will tell, but it seemed like Lee just fell into the lap of the Panthers at No. 28--and they just ignored it.

Even though he wasn't the first player at his position selected, the Chicago Bears could end up with one of the best picks of the first round in Kyle Fuller. The former Virginia Tech star is arguably the best cornerback from this year's class and expect Fuller to make an immediate impact with the Bears as a rookie.

Speaking of Lee, Philadelphia Eagles fans seemed to have their hearts set on landing the wideout at No. 26 after the team traded down with the Cleveland Browns. Instead, Chip Kelly and company decided to go with Louisville's Marcus Smith--who has proven to be a very effective pass rusher.

Either way--the look on the faces of Eagles fans following the pick was priceless.

Mike Evans playing alongside Vincent Jackson? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got the weapon they needed on offense in Evans to compete with the rest of the teams in the NFC South.

We had a feeling one team would trade up to acquire Sammy Watkins--and that team ended up being the Buffalo Bills. The argument can be made that Watkins is the best wideout from this year's class, but whether or not the Bills made a mistake as far as what they had to give up pick wise is a different story.

5. Raiders Land Khalil Mack

The Oakland Raiders could have shocked the world and selected Johnny Manziel with the fifth pick, but the team was smart and went with one of the most effective pass rusher's from this year's class in Khalil Mack instead. Mack has the potential to be a defensive star in the NFL and when considering how bad this team has been over the years--you have to give the Raiders credit for making a solid pick in the first round.

4. Vikings Trade For Teddy Bridgewater

For a second, it looked like the Houston Texans were going to find a way to land both Jadeveon Clowney and Teddy Bridgewater from this year's draft, but the Minnesota Vikings made the smart decision to trade for the Louisville product for the final pick in the first round. The Vikings clearly needed help at quarterback and there's no denying the fact that Bridgewater has proven to be a winner throughout his career.

3. Jaguars Finally Land a Solid QB in Blake Bortles

The Jacksonville Jaguars can officially move on from the mistake they made a few years ago with Blaine Gabbert and focus on building the franchise around Blake Bortles. The UCF star has arguably been considered the top quarterback from this year's draft class and the Jaguars can finally say they got it right with their first-round pick--for once.

2. Texans Make Right Choice at No. 1 With Jadeveon Clowney

Considering the Houston Texans finished with a 2-14 record last season, it was clear they had numerous options with the top pick. Jadeveon Clowney playing alongside J.J. Watt over the next couple of years is going to be flat-out scary for opponents and the Texans were smart to hold off on selecting a quarterback with the top pick considering they have plenty of solid options heading into Friday night.

Cleveland Browns fans haven't been this excited for football season since the team returned to Ohio in 1999 now that Johnny Manziel is their quarterback. While the Browns deserve plenty of credit for all of the trades they made in the first round, the most interesting fact of the day was how Jimmy Haslam was influenced by a homeless man to select Manziel in the first round.

You gotta love draft night, right?
