There is no doubting that the Denver Broncos know that Peyton Manning will not be in the NFL for much longer. The next year or two could be Manning’s final years and the team has to look toward the future. For some odd reason, that future may not include Brock Osweiler.
An interesting rumor on Day 3 of the draft is that the Broncos could be addressing the quarterback position this afternoon. This brings about an interesting situation because a few teams a couple weeks back were inquiring about trading for Osweiler. While the Broncos have stated that they are not going to trade him, the newest rumor mill has a different saying.
Of course, the Broncos have not drafted a quarterback yet, but if they do, it could be something to really look at. There are a few quarterbacks remaining on the board, but why would they want to trade a quarterback that they have praised so much since drafting him after signing Manning in the same offseason? It makes absolutely no sense to me at all.
The only reason I would see the Broncos drafting a quarterback is if they want to create some competition for Zac Dysert. But the fact that they could trade Osweiler could send a signal that he is ready to start for a team in the league. It will be something to look at as Day 3 continues on today.
Trading away someone who has learned from Manning since day one would be silly in my mind.
