After putting together an impressive 2014 NFL Draft class, the Minnesota Vikings further improved their roster by bringing in a strong group of undrafted free agents. While many of them won’t earn a roster spot when all is said and done, there are a few who could end up making impacts in Minnesota.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the Vikings’ Top 5 UDFAs and why they deserve a shot.

QB Kenny Guiton

After adding Teddy Bridgewater in the first round, quarterback isn’t exactly the Vikings’ biggest concern. However, with Christian Ponder slated as the third quarterback, Minnesota would mind some competition at that final spot. Guiton has a big arm, plenty of athleticism, and is seen as a high-upside prospect. If he has a strong camp, the Ohio State product could push Ponder for a roster spot.

A former college quarterback with outstanding athleticism, Colter will look to make the switch to wide receiver with the Vikings. While the team certainly isn’t lacking talent out wide, Minnesota could use another project like Joe Webb was for the last few seasons. Colter has the athleticism to be a factor in the NFL, but still has lots of work to do to develop into a quality pass-catcher.

In terms of natural talent, Leonard is a stud. However, off-field issues and a lack of determination led him to going undrafted. If the Vikings can light a fire under him and unlock some of the tremendous potential he possesses, though, Leonard could be an absolute steal. He’s a sensational athlete with reliable hands and after-the-catch abilities, but gives minimal effort when the ball isn’t coming his way.

WR Eric Lora

A true small-school sleeper, Lora has everything you want in a No. 3 or 4 receiver. Possessing strong hands, a keen understanding of the position, and impressive adjustment skills, he could prove to be one of the Vikings’ biggest undrafted free agency steals in recent memory.

Once considered a first-round talent, Richardson watched a down 2013 campaign plummet his draft stock, landing him in the ranks of the undrafted. Now, though, the Vikings have benefited from his misfortunate, and should quickly find a role for the imposing offensive tackle. He’s a big, powerful blocker who could steal the swing tackle role and might even push for playing time at one of the guard spots.
