The 2014 NFL Draft is now over and we finally know where this year's top prospects will be starting their NFL careers. With that in mind, looking at each team's NFL schedule for the upcoming season gives us, the viewing public, some exciting rookie matchups. Here are five games featuring intriguing rookie matchups that you shouldn't dare miss this season.
If you are looking for what today's receivers and defensive backs will look like, look no further than in the NFC South where Tampa Bay wide receiver Mike Evans and New Orleans cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste will be going head to head twice this year. The Buccaneers and Saints will meet up in Weeks 5 and 17 and we can definitely expect some physical play on the outside between two of the more dynamic rookies in this year's class.
Another wide receiver-defensive back matchup will be intriguing this year, especially in Week 1 as Buffalo Bills' wide receiver Sammy Watkins, the best receiver in this class, goes head to head against Chicago Bears' cornerback Kyle Fuller, arguably the best cornerback in this year's draft. Both competed against each other in the ACC and will continue their budding rivalry in the NFL's opening week of the season.
A matchup between two of the top rookies in the trenches will make for an excellent matchup in Week 13. Oakland pass rusher Khalil Mack, the best pass rusher to some in this year's draft, takes on St. Louis tackle Greg Robinson, unquestionably the best offensive lineman in this year's class. Which style will prevail, Mack's speed off the edge or Robinson's pure power?
A budding rivalry will start to develop in the NFC North as Detroit Lions' tight end Eric Ebron and Green Bay safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix will see one another twice this year. With Detroit hoping to have found the next Jimmy Graham in Ebron, the Packers think they found the next Earl Thomas in Clinton-Dix, making for an excellent one on one matchup. The Lions and Packers square off in Weeks 3 and 17, two games that could decide the NFC North.
The rookie matchup that everyone will have to see this year comes in Week 11 as Jadeveon Clowney and the Houston Texans take on Johnny Manziel and the Cleveland Browns. Plenty of headlines will be made in this matchup as the two most dynamic players in college football history square off against one another and Manziel out to prove that he should have been selected No. 1 overall. Throw out the records when these two meet up this year.
