The Detroit Lions have a great place to play football on Sunday afternoons in the fall these days. Ford Field is with the times and all that an NFL stadium should be. But as for the Lions former home, the Silverdome, it’s fallen on hard times.

While it’s easy to make jokes about the Silverdome looking like the rest of Detroit, in this case, it’s just sad. It’s sad to see a once great athletic facility in shambles and it’s even more sad that no one is doing anything about it. It’s all likely because of a lack of funds and events to put on display.
At this point, it’s going to take someone with a lot of money and interest to resurrect the Lions former home…
On the lighter side of things, the Silverdome was recently being mentioned around the internet because of a flub up that Hulk Hogan made at WrestleMania 30. While cutting a promo to kick off WWE’s biggest show of the year (taking place in New Orleans at the Superdome), Hogan mistakenly said that he was in the Silverdome.
The crowd got all over him and he quickly realized his mistake. He explained it by saying he got caught up in the moment by talking about body-slamming Andre the Giant at WrestleMania III (which set a then indoor attendance record at the Pontiac Silverdome in 1987 with 93,173 people).
