The Kansas City Chiefs finished with an 11-5 record and a playoff berth in 2013. As the Chiefs enter 2014, more will be expected out of them as they look to win the AFC West, and look to advance further than the Wild Card round in next year's postseason. What are the five biggest Chiefs rumors as they enter OTAs?

While the offensive line was a stable bunch in 2013, that may not be the case in 2014. The Chiefs lost Pro Bowl left tackle Branden Albert and starting guards Jon Asamoah and Geoff Schwartz to free agency. As a response to those departures, the Chiefs replaced all three linemen with Jeff Linkenbach and two sixth-round draft picks. If the O-line can't protect for Alex Smith, the season is doomed.

Although the Chiefs averaged over 36 points per game in their last six contests of the 2013 season, the lack of talent at the wide receiver position was one of the team's biggest weaknesses. The fact that running back Jamaal Charles was the team's leading receiver with 693 receiving yards is a huge problem. The team will hope that receivers such as A.J. Jenkins and Junior Hemingway can improve their play in 2014.

Many media outlets are predicting the Chiefs' demise in 2014. After the team defeated just one team with a winning record in 2013, and blew a 28-point lead in the Wild Card playoff game versus the Indianapolis Colts, Sports Ilustrated had the Chiefs ranked 17th in the post-draft power rankings. Likewise, ESPN had the Chiefs ranked 15th following the draft. If the Chiefs are to be as mediocre as many people predict, it'll be a huge disappointment.

While the Denver Broncos had an excellent offseason following an appearance in the Super Bowl, and the San Diego Chargers advanced further than the Chiefs in last year's playoffs, the Chiefs have become a forgotten team in the AFC West. While it is true the Chiefs still remain behind the Broncos in the West pecking order, KC will have to fend off SD for second place in the West.

The biggest storyline for the Chiefs entering OTAs is the ongoing contract extension talks between Alex Smith and the Chiefs. There hasn't been much progress made, and although the Chiefs did not draft a quarterback high in the 2014 NFL Draft, this could very well be Smith's last year in KC if a deal is not done by the start of the season. One non-playoff season, and Smith could be as good as gone after 2014.
