The San Francisco 49ers were one play from winning the Super Bowl at the end of the 2012 season. At the end of the 2013 season the 49ers were one play from making it to the Super Bowl. This season the 49ers will look to get over the hump to finally win the Vincent Lombardi Trophy. Here is a look at five storylines that the 49ers are facing entering OTAs.

NaVorro Bowman of the San Francisco 49ers ended the season in devastating fashion as he tore his ACL in the NFC Championship game. Bowman is now on the comeback trail, and he will look to be ready for the season. The 49ers drafted Chris Borland to potentially fill the void, but the 49ers can't afford not to have No. 53 on the field.

After drafting Carlos Hyde in the second round, the 49ers will have to work extra hard to get Lattimore in the lineup. With the ageless Frank Gore, Hyde, LaMichael James and Kendall Hunter all in the backfield, it will be interesting to see how offensive coordinator Greg Roman tries to figure out the impact of Marcus Lattimore.

Michael Crabtree's season ended on a sour note, and I am sure he is ready to get back on the field. Seeing himself on the wrong end of Richard Sherman's highlight many times will light a fire in him to become a better receiver. Crabtree is already a great wide receiver, but I am sure he will take his game to new heights.

San Francisco 49ers fans know that Aldon Smith will be ready if he is able to play, but Smith's personal issues could put a dark cloud over him. Smith recently pleaded no contest to six charges and could face jail time if convicted. There is ample time for Smith to stay out of trouble and prove to the justice system that he is improving as a citizen. The handling of Smith is bigger than football, and I hope that he learns no matter the outcome.

Colin Kaepernick has a lot on his shoulders, and the 49ers' title hopes rest on Kaepernick's legs and arm. Kaepernick had a few rough patches last season, but he improved his play when it mattered most. If he takes his game to the next level I am positive that the 49ers as a team will follow suit.
