The Miami Dolphins' Charles Clay was named the 89th-best player on the NFL Network's 'Top 100' list by his peers. It was a bit shocking considering Clay has had one good season in three NFL seasons. Two Dolphins have been named to the 'Top 100' so far, as the NFL Network has revealed Numbers 71-100 thus far. Here are five reasons why Clay is overrated on the 'Top 100' list.

The other Dolphin that was named to the 'Top 100' list was none other than Brent Grimes. Grimes is a two-time Pro Bowl player who was ranked No. 2 among all cornerbacks in Pro Football Focus's positional rankings. Grimes aided the Dolphins in ranking in the top 10 in interceptions and points allowed. On the 'Top 100' list, Clay ranked No. 89, while Grimes ranked No. 95.

Before 2013, Clay hadn't achieved any notable success in the NFL. 2013 was his breakout year, which saw him catch 69 passes for 759 yards and six touchdowns. As solid as Clay was in 2013, it was just that -- one season of solid success. The majority of players on NFL Network's 'Top 100' list have at least two seasons of performance before being named to the list.

Clay is an impactful player for the Dolphins' offense. He is basically Ryan Tannehill's safety valve, and he makes plays by gaining yards after the catch. However, he is not even one of the Dolphins' top players. Guys like Grimes, Randy Starks, Jared Odrick, Cameron Wake, Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline are all better than Clay. With the exception of Grimes, Starks and Wake, the other players aren't even likely to be named to the list.

2. His Position Ranking in Pro Football Focus

Whereas other Dolphins such as Grimes ranked highly in Pro Football Focus's positional rankings, Clay did not. Clay ranked No. 27 on Pro Football Focus' position rankings. The 30-year-old Kellen Winslow ranked No. 6 on the list, 21 spots higher than Clay. If Clay did not rank as one of the better tight ends in the NFL, what made voters believe he is a 'Top 100' player in the NFL?

As mentioned before, the Dolphins have at least six players who are better than Clay, three of whom likely won't be even on the 'Top 100' list. Clay was also ranked ahead of Grimes, a more highly accomplished and impactful player. He's had one season of solid success, and according to Pro Football Focus, Clay isn't even a top 25 tight end. Clay isn't as bad as PFF suggests, but he's also not a 'Top 100' player in the NFL.
