The NFL has had a major problem this offseason with players being arrested or in trouble with the law in some sort of fashion. It has gotten just a bit worse as star safety T.J. Ward, signed by the Denver Broncos this offseason, has a warrant out for his arrest, according to CBS Denver.
Seeing another player get arrested or in trouble with the law adds to the growing number of players in the league with such issues.
Ward is just the latest in the long line of player, but this should concern the NFL that its players can’t seem to stay out of trouble and it feels like a dozen players a week get arrested or have some sort of problem with illegal drugs and failed drug tests.
The fourth-year player recorded an impressive 112 tackles with two interceptions and a touchdown, locking up a big free agent contract with the Broncos this offseason.
Denver signed the 27-year-old safety to a $23 million contract this offseason and he was supposed to be a huge piece added to a somewhat poor secondary from a year ago. This will be a big blow to the Broncos if he ends up getting suspended, as he should be, this season.
According to police documents, the arrest warrant is due to a connection with a May 9 incident at a club that was categorized as both an assault and disturbing the peace.
The NFL needs to do something about this because the arrest problem is getting way out of hand.
