The San Diego Chargers had plenty of holes on their roster to fill over the offseason, but now with rookie minicamp over and OTA's about to start here are five bold predictions for the Chargers this season.

The last time the Chargers had two 1,000 yard receivers was in 2009 with Jackson (1,167) and Gates (1,157). Jackson is now in Tampa and Gates is on the downside of his career. Allen (1,046 yards in 2013) proved to be a number one receiver last year and should improve even more this season. The rest of San Diego's receivers have to step up and I see either Gates (872 yards in 2013) turning back the clock or Brown and Green having breakout seasons.

4. A Kickoff and Punt Returned For a Touchdown

The Chargers have desperately missed Sproles' play on offense and in the return game since he left for the Saints. The last time the Chargers returned both a kickoff and punt for a touchdown was back in 2007 and Sproles did both. This year San Diego has plenty of candidates to fill that void in rookies Grice, Reese, Chancellor and Hatfield. The Chargers return game will be much improved from last season.

Only three teams in the NFL ranked in the top 10 last year: the Patriots, Eagles and Packers. Only one team ranked in the top 10 in 2012 (Patriots) and 2011 (Saints). Last year San Diego's passing attack (4th) was one of the best in the league and their rushing attack (13th) wasn't far behind. The addition of Brown and continuity, bringing back all five starters, on the offensive line will translate to a top 10 finish for the pass and rush.

The last time San Diego had two players with double-digit sacks was back in 2006 with Merriman (17) and Phillips (11.5). On this year's roster there are several candidates that have double-digit sack potential. Freeney still has a little left in the tank, Liuget and Reyes both have had at least five sacks in each of the past two seasons and youngsters Ingram and Attaochu could be that spark the Chargers' pass-rush has been missing.

The last time the Chargers had 30 or more takeaways in a season was back in 2007 (48). Last season the Chargers had a combined 17 takeaways (11 interceptions and 6 fumble recoveries). The addition of Verrett, Attaochu and a healthy Ingram and Freeney will help the secondary and get pressure on opposing quarterbacks. This will lead to more takeaways by the Chargers.
