Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib recently made an appearance on NFL Network. Of course, he was asked about his new team and a certain player that wears No. 18. Talib is no stranger to playing with future Hall of Fame QBs, as he spent the past two seasons with Tom Brady.

Talib was asked the question that’s posed to many in the football world: Manning or Brady – who ya got?

“You gotta go Peyton Manning. Tom is a good friend of mine, what’s up Tom, baby. (But Manning) had an awesome year. He tore it up. He like set the record for touchdowns. He beat Tom in the AFC Championship. You gotta give it to Peyton. Tom know that’s my dog man, he know,” said the CB.

Yes, Brady does know. He knows there’s no way Talib is going to say Manning is the second best QB in football when he plays right alongside him.

But we all know that if the Patriots had opened up their checkbook for Talib this offseason, he’d be singing a much different tune.

As for the now age old question of Manning or Brady, it’s still tough to call. Many were ready to give the GOAT title to Manning if he won SB 48, but that didn’t exactly go as planned. Brady has played in five SBs while winning three, and Manning has played in three and won one.

Statistically speaking, it’s not even close in favor of Peyton. But we all know rings are the end-all be-all in sports. As of this moment, it’s hard to say that Brady doesn’t have a slight edge when you look at the big picture. But the conversation could be completely different next year at this time.

In determining the greatness of a QB “rings are the end-all be-all” only to those who know least about the sport….or are intellectually lazy regarding any real analysis. A “ring” is certainly a consideration, but it certainly should NOT be the only consideration or facet to be spotlighted. Brad Johnson, Joe Flacco and Trent Dilfer are all SB winning QB’s, but who in their right mind would view them as better than the likes of a Dan Marino, or a Dan Fouts.
