Alex Boone of the San Francisco 49ers currently upset about his current contact. Boone has two years on his deal, and it will pay him around $4 million. The 49ers may be stuck at a crossroads with Boone. They have to pay Colin Kaepernick,  Michael Crabtree and Mike Iupati, and all three will command hefty contracts.

The 49ers are already tight with cap space, so it will make things interesting when dealing with Boone. He is arguably one of the best guards in the NFL, and he knows that trouble may be coming soon pertaining to his deal.

Boone is currently missing OTAs, and I am sure that will roll over into the mandatory mini-camp in June. Without Boone, the 49ers take a huge hit because he is a great locker room guy and he is one of the best in his position. Boone deserves to be paid, but the question remains is that can the 49ers afford him?

Boone shares the same agent as Darrelle Revis and Vincent Jackson so if history repeats itself, a holdout is a strong possibility. The 49ers don’t have the luxury to have Boone out of the lineup because there isn’t a replacement who can fill his void. The 49ers’ front office need to find a way to make this work because Boone’s impact is crucial.
