The preseason is still a few months away, but there are moves that can be made now that will have an impact on the regular season. The Falcons are transitioning to a new scheme on defense and have a fresh batch of draft picks needing to be integrated to the roster. With that in mind, here are five moves the Falcons need to make during OTAs.

Holmes was viewed as a project when the Falcons took him in the 2012 NFL Draft, but his play last season was absolutely deplorable. He was a major reason why Matt Ryan spent so much time on his back last season, and the Falcons now have Jake Mathews to take his spot at right tackle.

Biermann is undersized for the defensive end position in the 3-4 scheme, and he may be better utilized as a pass rushing linebacker. Biermann already has some experience dropping into coverage from the defensive line in some of Mike Nolan's exotic schemes, and he could thrive coming off the edge.

3. Move Peria Jerry to DE

Jerry is smaller than most 3-4 defensive tackles and should be given a chance outside the middle of the defensive line. The former first-round pick has been a disappointment for the Falcons, and if he can't find a spot on the line in the 3-4, the Falcons have enough other options to make Jerry dispensable.

2. Integrate Devin Hester Into the Offense

Hester's addition was primarily intended to bolster the Falcons' lackluster return game, but with the NFL minimizing the impact of kick returns, the team should find creative ways to use the speedster. His best days may be behind him, but Hester can certainly be of used as a fourth wide receiver or out of the backfield in passing situations.

1. Trade Jacquizz Rodgers

Rodgers has become expendable with the addition of Devonta Freeman in the draft. The Falcons have Steven Jackson and Antone Smith to go along with Freeman, and Rodgers' trade value will never be higher than it is now. If any team is willing to give up a late-round pick for Jacquizz, the Falcons should jump on it.
