The Denver Broncos began non-mandatory OTAs on Wednesday as they look to avenge last season's Super Bowl loss. Though the Broncos enter 2014 as contenders, the team's OTAs will be worth watching as many key players return to the field for the first time after season-ending injuries. As the Broncos continue running OTAs into June, here are five things we've learned so far.

Wednesday marked the first time players such as Ryan Clady, Von Miller, Rahim Moore, Derek Wolfe and Chris Harris participated on the field for team workouts since injuries ended their 2013 seasons. All five of the aforementioned players did not play in the team's Super Bowl loss. With the exception of Harris, every one of those players missed the team's postseason run.

Another key storyline of the Broncos' opening OTAs was seeing new players practice for the first time as Broncos. Players such as Emmanuel Sanders, DeMarcus Ware, T.J. Ward and Aqib Talib all practiced for the first time as members of the orange and blue. For Sanders, he is still learning the nuances of the Broncos' playbook and will look to develop chemistry with Peyton Manning as OTAs continue.

T.J. Ward and Rahim Moore lined up as a safety duo for the first time and communicated well on pre-snap reads. Ward lined up at strong safety, while Moore lined up at free safety. Expect the two to be the starting duo when the season opens in September. It will be worth watching how Moore practices leading up to the season, considering he missed the Broncos' last nine games of the season in 2013 due to lingering trouble in his leg.

The Broncos have only gone through three offseason workout sessions, but tight end Virgil Green has been utilized in the passing game along with fellow tight end Julius Thomas. According to Andrew Mason of DenverBroncos.com, Green was the most frequent target of Manning on the first day of OTAs. Green has just 17 receptions for 132 yards in his three-year career. Perhaps this is the year Green is utilized as a receiver in the offense?

DeMarcus Ware had a down year in 2013 as he was limited by injuries. While playing in only 13 games, Ware had the least productive season of his career, as he recorded just six sacks. With the veteran defensive end fully recovered from his quadriceps and elbow injuries, Mason noted after the first day of OTAs that Ware "consistently exploded off the edge and disrupted multiple pass plays."
