Position battles will be decided during the preseason, but will begin months before that point in OTAs. The Vikings have no shortage of position battles and it all starts at the quarterback position. There are also many positions on the defensive side of the ball that will see stiff competition throughout the offseason.

The left guard position will be between veteran Charlie Johnson and Stanford rookie David Yankey, who many believe was not only a steal in the fifth round of the draft, but will beat out Johnson for the starting spot. If Yankey can learn quickly and clean-up some minor things, Johnson will have to show he can still be a starter in the NFL.

One of the biggest holes on the Vikings' roster is at the mike. It is a position that wasn't addressed in free agency or the draft. However, they did bring back former Viking, Jasper Brinkley. He will compete for the starting spot along with recent draft picks Audie Cole, Gerald Hodges and Michael Mauti, all of whom were special teams contributors last season.

3. Safety

Another position that is up for grabs is the safety spot beside Harrison Smith. There is a plethora of players vying for the spot. Last season's starter, Jamarca Sanford, will compete with Mistral Raymond, rookie Antone Exum (pictured), Kurt Coleman, Andrew Sendejo and Robert Blanton. Picking the starter will be dependent on which safety can handle pass coverage the best.

2. Cornerback

The most wide-open competition of them all will be at cornerback behind Xavier Rhodes and Captain Munnerlyn. Rookies Jabari Price (pictured) and Kendall James will battle it out with Derek Cox, Josh Robinson, Shaun Prater, Marcus Sherels and the recently signed Julian Posey. There isn't one name who stands out above the rest, so it will make for an interesting competition.

The position everyone has there eyes on, and rightfully so, is at quarterback. Matt Cassel is the favorite at this point. but Teddy Bridgewater has impressed everyone with not only his physical ability, but his quick learning curve as well; and let's not forget about Christian Ponder. All will receive first-team reps, but while Cassel is the front-runner, Bridgewater is the fan-favorite and future of the franchise.

Russell Wilson Is A Freaking Magician

There aren't too many quarterbacks who could make this play. Russell Wilson had to run 10-15 yards to recover the ball, then escape pressure and find a wide-open Tyler Lockett for the biggest play of the game. If the Seahawks win, this will be the turning point.
