Things are changing for the Houston Texans. With a new head coach, and a roster that is vastly different, there are sure to be a good number of position battles for the Texans this offseason. That said, here are the five positional battles to keep an eye on at the Houston Texans' OTAs.
Although the battle to become the Texans' place kicker isn't all that exciting, it's a battle nonetheless. Chris Boswell is the favorite in this battle, as Bullock hasn't proven to have NFL-caliber accuracy.
Another fairly unexciting battle, Brad Smelley and Jay Prosch will battle it out for the title of the Houston Texans' starting fullback. Prosch is the favorite to win the battle, as his toughness and intangibles make him a desirable starter.
Ben Jones is a solid-enough NFL starter, but the Texans didn't draft Xavier Su'a-FIlo for him to ride the bench. Su'a-Filo is going to give Jones a run for his money, but will he come out on top?
The battle to become the Texans' starting tight end comes down to two players who are very different in their styles of play. Garrett Graham is more of a receiver, while C.J. Fiedorowicz is more of a blocker. Look for Graham to win this battle.
Going into OTAs, it was thought Tom Savage had no shot at the Texans' starting QB job. However, with his performance so far, Savage has put himself equal with Ryan Fitzpatrick in the chase to start for the Texans. That said, due to his experience, I expect Fitzpatrick to come out triumphant.
