There are many words you can use to describe the Dallas Cowboys’ franchise over the past decade and a half from average, overrated, overly hyped and everyone’s favorite to mediocre. All of those things are true about America’s team, but you can’t say they are not entertaining. There is something intriguing about every Cowboys team. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the five most intriguing Cowboys players headed into the 2014 season.

DeVonte Holloman showed flashes of his talent in 2013 but like most rookies his season was up and down. Dallas converted Holloman from safety to linebacker in 2013 and expected to rely on him more in 2014. Due to the unfortunate season ending injury to LB Sean Lee, Holloman will be called upon to carry an even heavier load now. It will be interesting to see just how big of a jump Holloman can make this season.

Zack Martin was the Cowboys’ first-round draft choice, and that alone would be enough to get him on the most intriguing Cowboys players list. When you add the fact that in minds of some Cowboys’ fans Martin will always be the guy Dallas took instead of Johnny Manziel, the pressure is clear. Martin will be observed extra closely by Dallas fans in 2014, and it will be intriguing to see how he handles it.

DeMarco Murray had a great 2013. He averaged five yards a carry, but at times he was frustrated with how many touches he got each game. There are two intriguing storylines with Murray: One, how do the offensive coaches use him? And the second intriguing thing about Murray is 2014 is the last year of his contract. Will he let the pressure of not having long-term job security affect him or will he use it as motivation?
