The Cincinnati Bengals' 5 Most Intriguing Players of 2014

The Cincinnati Bengals have one of the NFL's most talented squads in all three phases of the game, which began to show last season as the team put together quite a good season overall. But it's a year later and the talented players on this team must mature and become more consistent. Here are the five most intriguing players on the Cincinnati roster entering the 2014 season.

After putting together a great rookie season, RB Gio Bernard enters the 2014 season with high hopes on proving his talent as one of the league's best runners. Bernard was an absolute stud from the running back position, showing promise as a runner, as receiver and even as a blocker for QB Andy Dalton. Look for Bernard to continue to ascend up the running back rankings as one of the league's best young backs.

The Bengals are searching for a dominant No. 2 receiver to assert themselves in the offense to complement Pro Bowl WR AJ Green. WR Mohamed Sanu has done an okay job being the team's No. 2 receiver, but last season there were flashes of the potential WR Marvin Jones could bring to the offense. Jones is such a raw talent still, but if he can develop properly over the next season or two, the Bengals may have found their No. 2 receiver.

3. DE Margus Hunt

The Bengals allowed DE Michael Johnson to slip out of their grasp this offseason via free agency, but the team has a backup plan in DE Margus Hunt, who like Johnson, is a long, lanky and very athletic defensive end. Hunt has an amazing athletic skill set that should be illegal for a man his size at 6-foot-8. Hunt may not win the starting DE spot opposite DE Carlos Dunlap but expect to see a ton of the former SMU DE on passing downs.

2. CB Dre Kirkpatrick

The time is now for CB Dre Kirkpatrick to prove to the NFL nation that he is not a bust. The former first-round pick has had an underwhelming career thus far, but he began to show signs of vast improvement last season towards the end of the year. The Bengals can only squeeze a few more seasons out of CB/PR Adam Jones and possibly one out of CB Terence Newman. That's all the more reason for Kirkpatrick to excel this season.

1. TE Tyler Eifert

The Bengals' most interesting player this season has to be TE Tyler Eifert, who is also my No. 1 breakout candidate of the year. Eifert has all of the tools to be a dominant tight end in this league, and he certainly fits the mold of the "seam-threat" tight end that the modern NFL absolutely loves. Eifert should be one of the most important players in the Bengals' offense this season. Look for him to have an monster season in year two.

Adam Jones Posts Video Apology To Antonio Brown

Adam 'Pacman' Jones took a ton of warranted criticism for accusing Antonio Brown of faking the injury he suffered against Cincinnati last weekend. But Jones deserves some credit for apologizing now that Brown has been ruled out against Denver in the divisional round.

Bengals' Burfict Has Experience With Illegal Plays

Everyone wants to say that Vontaze Burfict's actions were reactionary to the Steelers from earlier in the game. Take a look at this video from last week against the Ravens, and also last year against the Panthers when he wrenched Greg Olsen's ankle following a play, and you'll realize this guy's nothing but a punk.
