The Arizona Cardinals are a team on the rise. With plenty of young talent on the roster, this is a team that looks well-built for future success. That said, with all the young talent available, there will be veteran players that will be cut before the season starts.

Without further ado, here are five Arizona Cardinal veterans who won’t make the final roster.

5. OG Paul Fanaika

Despite being listed as the Cardinals’ current starting right guard, make no mistake, Paul Fanaika won’t even sniff the field for the team this season. With Earl Watford and Anthony Steen behind him, Fanaika isn’t worth a roster spot.

4. QB Ryan Lindley

The last time Ryan Lindley played meaningful action for the Cardinals was back in 2012 when he threw seven interceptions without tossing a touchdown pass. With Logan Thomas now on the roster, there’s just no reason to keep Lindley around.

Although I’m a fan of Marcus Benard, that doesn’t make him worthy of a roster spot for the Cardinals. Sam Acho is a better player, and with Benard’s injury history, it just doesn't make sense to keep him around.

2. OT Nate Potter

A disappointment since entering the NFL in 2012, Nate Potter has played himself out of a roster spot at this point. It’s all but guaranteed that Potter will find himself looking for work before the season begins.

Since he tore his ACL in Super Bowl XLVI, Jake Ballard’s NFL career has taken a turn for the worse. Ballard hasn’t been able to regain his form. With Troy Niklas, Rob Housler and John Carlson on the roster, there’s just no place for Ballard.
