The St. Louis Rams are caught in the ever competitive NFC West division and will look to unleash their new and improved defensive line rotation on opposing quarterbacks this season. Here are five early predictions for the Rams' 2014 season.

RB Zac Stacy was quite a pleasant surprise for the Rams last season after being an unknown commodity coming out of Vanderbilt. Stacy ran the football with a passion last season, which was a great thing to watch each week. His ability to be a No. 1 runner is concerning, but paired with rookie Tre Mason, the Rams could have quite a potent running game this year. Stacy should handle the starting duties, however.

DE Robert Quinn really broke out last season, challenging for the league lead in sacks all season long. Quinn's explosiveness, combined with his brute strength, give him the upper hand over every tackle he will face on any given Sunday. Quinn will remain dominant this season behind 14.5 sacks, but due to the talent along the defensive line, his numbers may dip a bit -- 14.5 sacks is still quite dominant, however.

3. OLB Alec Ogletree Will Become A Star

Fast, explosive, instinctive, smart and agile are all words that describe OLB Alec Ogletree. Although he had his struggles during his rookie season with the Rams last year, Ogletree still flashed his potential as a star outside linebacker for the squad. This season, in just his second season in the league, Ogletree will take the next step into stardom. Look for 120+ tackles, four interceptions, three forced fumbles and four sacks.

2. DT Michael Brockers Becomes An Interior Force

DT Michael Brockers is one of the more important pieces the Rams have defensively, and he is one of the future stars for the team. His ability to stuff the run, while also rush the passer is almost unheard of in the league. Brockers will take the next step this season by becoming a strong interior force against the run in the tough NFC West, where two of the top run-game lie. Look for Brockers to rack up tackles while his buddies rack up sacks.

I remember anticipating Tavon Austin's first game with the Rams. I wanted to see that speed and elusiveness on display. The league really never got to consistently see what Austin could do with the football in his hands. This year, Austin will become the focal point of the Sam Bradford led Rams offense en route to the league lead in all-purpose yardage. Austin will see snaps as a runner, receiver and returner.
