This offseason has been a rough one for the Carolina Panthers. The team has already lost a considerable amount of veteran talent, and it’s only a matter of time before more veteran players are jettisoned from the roster. With that said, here are five veteran Panthers who won’t make the team’s final roster.

5. OG Chris Scott

Not a particularly effective player, Chris Scott is almost guaranteed to be released before the season. The Panthers drafted Trai Turner, and Scott’s play just doesn’t warrant a roster spot.

Since being taken in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft, Frank Alexander has yet to make much of an impact at the NFL level. Alexander’s potential is great, but without the production, he hasn’t earned his spot on the team.

3. WR Marvin McNutt

The all-time leading receiver in Iowa history, Marvin McNutt has yet to make an impact at all at the NFL level. McNutt hasn’t made a catch up to this point in his career, and he’s not going to make a catch with the Panthers either.

2. QB Matt Blanchard

After going undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft, Matt Blanchard was signed by the Chicago Bears where he failed to develop as a backup. The Panthers have Derek Anderson and Joe Webb on the roster, and those two should end up beating out Blanchard for a roster spot.

With just five receptions in his career up to this point, Mike McNeill has done absolutely nothing to prove he deserves a spot on the Panthers’ roster. The team signed Ed Dickson this offseason, and with Dickson and Greg Olsen on the roster, there’s no need for McNeill.
