The Jacksonville Jaguars are a team on the rise. Head coach Gus Bradley has this team set up to enjoy success well into the future, and it’s very possible the team will take the next steps toward contention in 2014. That said, there are several veteran players that won't be around to help take the team to the next level due to a wide variety of reasons. Without further ado, here are five veterans who won't make Jacksonville’s final roster.

Averaging just 3.3 yards per carry over his career, Jordan Todman has done nothing to earn himself a roster spot for the Jaguars. Seventh-rounder Storm Johnson is a better overall player, and with Toby Gerhart likely to earn the majority of the team’s carries, there’s no way Todman stays on the roster.

With no catches in his NFL career, Brandon Barden doesn’t have the production to warrant a roster spot in Jacksonville. There are plenty of better options on the Jaguars’ roster, and Barden just isn’t a good fit.

Signed last offseason after a season with the Chicago Bears, J.T. Thomas failed to make much of an impact. Thomas was only able to manage 23 total tackles in 2013, and in 2014, he will find himself looking for a new team.

2. OLB John Lotulelei

Like J.T. Thomas, John Lotulelei has yet to make a real impact at the NFL level. Lotulelei doesn’t really have any skills that set him apart, and at this point, he’s just wasting a roster spot.

Considered by many to be a steal in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL draft, Ricky Stanzi has yet to live up to that title. The team has Chad Henne, Blake Bortles and Stephen Morris on the roster, and all three are better uses of a roster spot than Stanzi.
