The Pittsburgh Steelers are a team with a lot of veteran talent on the roster. That said, not every veteran playing for the team is really all that talented. As a matter of fact, there are several players that will find themselves without a team before the 2014 season begins. With that said, here are five veteran Steelers who won’t make the team’s final roster.

After four subpar seasons as a member of the Buffalo Bills, Arthur Moats was signed this offseason by the Steelers, which looks like a foolish move. Moats really isn’t a great fit in Pittsburgh, and with the team’s depth, Moats just isn’t worth a roster spot.

A rookie last season, Alvester Alexander failed to produce anything in his rookie season, and it’s hard to believe his second year would go any better. Alexander is below-average in almost every stage of the game, and he won’t be on the roster come Week 1.

The Steelers have a lot of depth at the tight end position, and Michael Palmer just isn’t good enough to beat out his peers at the position. With just 22 career receptions, Palmer has already proven he isn’t productive enough for the Steelers to keep him around.

2. OG David Snow

Below-average in every sense of the phrase, David Snow has done nothing in his career to earn a roster spot. Snow is a liability in both run and pass blocking, and there’s no reason for Pittsburgh to keep him around.

With one decent season under his belt, Darrius Heyward-Bey will simply never live up to the expectations that come with being a top-10 pick. Heyward-Bey is on his third team in three years in the Steelers, and to be honest, there’s no sense in Pittsburgh keeping Heyward-Bey on the team.
