The OTA season is coming to a close and that means the Dallas Cowboys will be entering the training camp stage of the offseason. The Cowboys have had their share of drama over the offseason and that will continue until Week 1. Dallas has a ton of competition at a few positions and there will be some new faces on both sides of the ball. Here are five surprise starters for 2014.

Ronald Leary was the starting left guard last year, but many believe Mackenzy Bernadeau will start at the left guard position next to Tyron Smith. Leary was decent in 2013, but the problem with him long-term, however, is that he has a really bad knee injury that could linger throughout most of his career.

4. Cole Beasley

Although the Cowboys love what they have in rookie Devin Street, I believe the Cowboys will have Beasley line up in the slot. Beasley was excellent in Dallas as a third-down pass-catcher in 2013, but with new offensive Scott Linehan, Beasley could have an even bigger role. Beasley has excellent hands and he is a terrific route-runner. Beasley has the makings to be an excellent receiver in 2014.

Ken Bishop has been reportedly turning heads for the Cowboys. Defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli is one of the bests at getting the most out of his defensive linemen and Bishop could flourish under Marinelli in the 4-3 defensive scheme. Bishop will backup Henry Melton at the three-technique position, but the one-technique position is wide open and Bishop could be the starter for Week 1.

2. DeMarcus Lawrence

The Cowboys love DeMarcus Lawrence, their second-round pick, but he needs to put on weight to make an impact in his first season. Although Lawrence needs to add bulk and learn his role in the 4-3, the Cowboys might have to throw Lawrence into the fire right away with the injuries to Anthony Spencer. Unfortunately, Spencer might be put on the PUP list and that means Lawrence will be the starter.

DeVonte Holloman is still relatively new to the linebacker position, but he is extremely athletic to say the least. Holloman is a converted safety and his athleticism shows when playing in the second level of the defense. With Sean Lee's injury, the Cowboys have a glaring hole at the Mike linebacker position. Despite being inexperienced, Holloman has a nose for the football and he is terrific in the passing game too.
