The Washington Redskins are currently undergoing a lot of controversy due to their team's name, which is quite fitting since it is a racist one. This slideshow will examine that and a few other red flags the squad will have to deal with in the 2014 season. Robert Griffin III is hoping for a bounce-back year, but there could be some roadblocks to that happening.
Robert Griffin III no longer has to wear a knee brace, but he is also lacking a contract extension. Washington would be foolish to miss out on making Griffin their QB of the future.
DeSean Jackson was the biggest offseason acquisition for the 'Skins. It remains to be seen whether he will be an asset or a distraction in the locker room, but I am betting that he will help inflate Griffin's passing yards next season.
Mike Shanahan was not exactly a crowd favorite, and we will have to see what Jay Gruden brings to the table. The change will probably help Griffin's confidence heading into the next season, but the fans and media will ultimately only be satisfied by wins.
If the defense does not show up, then it will be a long season. RGIII bailed out a subpar defensive unit in his rookie year, but they no longer have that luxury. Their starters on that end of the field have yet to be determined. You can expect that all of the desperate NFC East teams will make it a competitive division in 2015.
We all know that leadership starts at the top, and Daniel Snyder might be one of the most despicable owners in all of sports. He is not as bad as Donald Sterling, but who is? Mainly, the owner of the Washington football franchise needs to change his team's name sooner rather than later.
