Not every player is going to perform well and make significant contributions for the upcoming 2014 NFL season. While there have not been many negative reports about anybody from the Philadelphia Eagles during OTAs, some guys have stood out in a not-so-positive way. Here are the 5 biggest duds from minicamp.
Sanchez makes this list simply because most of the reports out of Eagles camp have not been positive. Reporters have said that Sanchez has thrown a few interceptions with no wide receiver in sight.
Fletcher does not necessarily belong on this list because of poor play. However, with Nolan Carroll standing out early and Cary Williams off to a strong start, Fletcher’s starting spot and even roster spot could go to someone else.
Who? You are not the only one if you don’t know who this guy is. While Chip Kelly doesn’t love the position, Igwenagu was the only player on the roster who could line up at fullback last season. He is a natural tight end but continues to drop passes in camp. If this continues, his roster spot is in extreme jeopardy.
He is listed as the starting slot wide receiver for now. However, with Jordan Matthews poised to take that spot, Smith is on his way down the depth chart. Josh Huff has also made some noise, making Smith’s roster spot possibly expendable.
Barkley has gained the most notoriety from this minicamp. He has been scouted as having extremely poor arm strength and even challenged the media about that accusation. Barkley needs to improve or he may be released before his second NFL season.
