The San Francisco 49ers added 12 new players to their roster during the NFL Draft in April and brought in a number of players through free agency. As a result the following veterans will be left off the 53-man roster to open the season.

The five-time Pro Bowl special teams standout joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2013. Osgood made a number of big plays as a member of the 49ers' coverage units and was re-signed for the 2014 season. The addition of Brandon Lloyd through free agency and drafting of Bruce Ellington has created a logjam at the wide receiver position. This, along with the addition of Blake Costanzo, will push Osgood out the door.

This is the second tour of duty for the veteran signal-caller. Johnson was beat out for a spot on the 2012 roster by Scott Tolzien and spent the 2013 season as the backup in Cincinnati. This time around Johnson will be in a battle with Blaine Gabbert. Gabbert's guaranteed contract will win out in the end.

The veteran safety joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2013 and was a standout on special teams who did a good job filling in for Eric Reid when needed. With the addition of Jimmie Ward in the first round of the draft and presence of C.J. Spillman, look for Dahl to be the odd man out in the back half of the secondary.

This veteran offensive lineman, known for his versatility, was a key member of the 2011 offensive line and rejoined the club in 2013 after a season with the Arizona Cardinals. The addition of Jonathan Martin in a trade with the Miami Dolphins will spell the end of Snyder's career in San Francisco.

One of only two members of the 2012 draft class still with the San Francisco 49ers, James stepped into the punt returner role in the middle of 2013. James has struggled to find a spot in the running back rotation, and with Marcus Lattimore and Carlos Hyde set to join the roster this season, look for James to be traded or released prior to the season.
