Lavonte David had a breakout season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2013, garnering first team All-Pro honors. David was one of only three members of the Buccaneers defense to finish the season with a positive grade. The offseason additions of Michael Johnson, Clinton McDonald, and Alterraun Verner should go a long way toward making this unit among the best in football.

Dashon Goldson is known for his aggressive style of play. Unfortunately that style has caused Goldson to be among the league leaders in personal foul penalties over the last four seasons. For the Buccaneers to be able to be among the top defenses in the NFL Lovie Smith will need to work with his veteran safety to cut down these costly mistakes.

3. Will Carl Nicks Finally Be Healthy?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made Nicks the highest paid guard in the NFL when they lured him away from the New Orleans Saints as a free agent in 2012. In return, the Buccaneers have received a total of nine games over the last two seasons due to a toe injury that Nicks suffered in 2012. A healthy Nicks in the middle of the offensive line will go a long way to solidifying that group.

2. Will Doug Martin Be Ready To Go?

Doug Martin burst onto the scene in 2012, rushing for over 1400 yards and a spot on the NFC Pro Bowl roster. Martin's 2013 season was limited to only six games due to a torn labrum in his shoulder. A healthy Martin will be a key to making new Buccaneers offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford's offense go in 2014.

Despite being the most productive quarterback to come out of the 2013 draft class, Mike Glennon was demoted shortly after the hiring of Lovie Smith. Journeyman quarterback Josh McCown, who joined the club this offseason as a free agent, has been named the starter by Smith. A superb training camp and preseason from Glennon could push the issue though. Look for this to be a decision that will determine the Buccaneers fate in 2014.
