The Jaguars had a tough 2013 campaign, going 4-12 in the AFC South -- but they had a solid draft and signed a few underrated players in free agency. If they want the positivity of this offseason to translate into the regular season, they cannot lose these five players to injury.

Tight-end Marcedes Lewis has not returned to the form he showed in 2010 for Jacksonville (700 yards, 10 TDs), but that is more of a testament to the entire offenses struggles rather than his own. Lewis can be very productive, and is still the top TE on their roster.

Safety Johnathan Cyprien had a fairly solid rookie campaign in 2013, and reports indicate the Jaguars' coaching staff expects him to take a huge step forward in 2014. An improved secondary could make a big difference considering only Andrew Luck is a real threat at QB in the AFC South.

Considering WR Justin Blackmon will miss most, if not all of the 2014 season, Cecil Shorts is absolutely essential to the Jaguars' offense. There is not a ton of experience floating around the Jaguars' WR corps, and a loss of Shorts would be devastating to their season.

2. Paul Posluszny

Linebacker Paul Posluszny is a very balanced player (three sacks, two INTs, and 122 tackles in 2013) and in his eighth season, is an important leader on the defensive side of the ball for Jacksonville. Most teams can't overcome losing their best linebacker, and a loss of Posluszny could cause a breakdown of the unit.

Toby Gerhart will enter his first season as an NFL team's RB1 in 2014, and has gigantic shoes to fill since he is replacing Jaguars' legend Maurice Jones-Drew, who is now in Oakland. Gerhart is so important to the offense considering mediocre veteran Chad Henne will start the season at QB, and if he falters, a rookie Blake Bortles will have to emerge. Toby needs to carry the load and can't get hurt if the Jags want to improve.
