The San Francisco 49ers are among the favorites to represent the NFC in Super Bowl XLIX. With only 24 days left before veterans report, here are 5 bold predictions for the 2014 season.

Vernon Davis will be present when the San Francisco 49ers' veterans report to training camp on July 23, but Alex Boone will be a no-show. Boone is represented by Jonathan Feinsod and Neil Schwartz. Their clients have a history of holding out for a protracted period of time to get the new deals that they desire. In 2010 Vincent Jackson, a Feinsod and Schwartz client, held out the first 10 games of the 2010 season wanting a new deal.

4. Darryl Morris will open season as the starting slot corner

Morris joined the 49ers as an undrafted free agent signee prior to the 2013 season. After missing the initial 53-man roster, Morris was promoted from the practice squad prior to Week 4. With 2014 first-round draft pick Jimmie Ward sidelined due to a foot injury, Morris saw quite a bit of action as the slot corner throughout OTAs. Look for Morris to join the starting defense when the 49ers take the field in Dallas.

3. Bruce Ellington will have more receptions than Stevie Johnson

According to reports, Bruce Ellington looked like the real deal during offseason OTAs. Although the 49ers traded for Stevie Johnson during the draft, look for the younger and more explosive 2014 fourth-round draft pick to be the primary slot receiver this season.

2. Eric Reid will be named NFL Defensive Player of the Year

After being named to the NFC Pro Bowl team as a rookie, look for free safety Eric Reid to take his game to the next level in 2014 and finish the season as the first 49er since Dana Stubblefield in 1997 and safety since Troy Polamalu in 2010 to win the Defensive Player of the Year award.

After starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick goes down to an injury at Levi's Stadium against the St. Louis Rams in Week 9, backup Blaine Gabbert takes over the reigns. Behind a strong running game and a defense that once again is among the top groups in the league in points given up, Gabbert leads the 49ers to the NFC West title and a first-round bye in the playoffs.
