The New York Jets have reason to believe they are a team on the rise after finally making some offensive additions to go with an already solid defense. If everything gels, they could be very successful, but they need these five players to prove their worth.

Eric Decker has heard criticism from many who say his success in Denver was more of a product of playing with Peyton Manning than it was his own skill. Nothing could be further from the truth, though. Decker was productive with Tim Tebow at quarterback, which is quite the accomplishment. Now in New York, he gets the chance to prove he is a true WR1 with the Jets.

Cornerback Dee Milliner had an up and down rookie campaign in 2013, but certainly showed signs of promise. He is thrust into a huge role in the Jets' defense now that Antonio Cromartie is gone. Milliner has to take a step forward and show he was worth the first-round draft pick that the Jets used on him last season.

Chris Johnson proclaimed this offseason that he still thinks he is capable of running for over 2000 yards, and he will surely get a chance with the Jets considering Rex Ryan loves the "ground and pound" style of football. Many in the game feel he is washed up, and he will have the chance to prove them wrong this coming season.

Linebacker Quinton Coples has been serviceable in his first two seasons in the NFL, but when he was drafted in the first round of the 2012 draft, the Jets surely thought they were getting someone who would have made more of an immediate impact. With Sheldon Richardson and Muhammad Wilkerson drawing most of the attention from opposing offensive lines, Coples needs to take as many paths to the QB as possible and prove his worth.

Geno Smith had a very disappointing rookie season in 2013, but, in fairness, he did not have a ton of weapons to throw to. With upgrades at tight end and the skills positions, Smith has the opportunity to prove to many doubters that he does indeed possess the skills and leadership to be a franchise quarterback.
