There is little doubt that Patterson will play an important role in any success the Vikings have this season. However, it remains unknown how Patterson will be used this season. Offensive coordinator Norv Turner has stated that he has big plans for Patterson in the Vikings' offense, which may signal the end of Patterson’s kick returning days.

While Peterson has recorded 206 receptions in his career, the majority of his touches have come on rushing attempts. However, Turner has stated that he would like to see Peterson used much more frequently as a receiver this season in an effort to get him the ball in the open field more often. Peterson may not have been used as a receiver much throughout his illustrious career, but his first NFL touchdown did come on a 60-yard reception.
