Now that training camp is less than a month away, here are five storylines to keep an eye on when it rolls around. The Colts have talent at a lot of positions but there is still a lot of questions that need to be answered if they are going to fulfill their Super Bowl dreams this year.

The Indianapolis Colts spent a first-round pick on the running back and he had a disappointing first year with the Colts. Now that he has a full offseason to get comfortable with the playbook, there is no excuse for not making an impact. The talent appears to be there. Now it's just putting everything together.

Every year there is a surprise player in camp that comes in and makes an impact on the roster. My pick this year is the Florida cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy. The Colts are thin at cornerback this year and he was able to play well in the SEC last year. Purifoy has the talent to make an impact and the opportunity will be there.

3. Who is going to win the starting nose tackle position?

The nose tackle position is extremely important when the team plays in a 3-4 scheme. There is a three-way battle for the starting job between Josh Chapman, Montori Hughes and Brandon McKinney. Chapman and Hughes are both younger, but McKinney has played in Chuck Pagano’s scheme before and is comfortable. Whoever wins this job will be in charge of helping improve the run defense.

2. Who is going to replace Robert Mathis?

With Mathis being suspended for the first four games of the year, the Colts are going to have to find a way to replace him. The player that is going to get the first shot at it is Bjoern Werner. He should make a big jump in his second year now that he is stronger and has experience playing the stand up linebacker position.

LaRon Landry, for better or worse, is going to be one of the starting safeties for the Colts in 2014. The other one is going to be a battle between Delano Howell and Mike Adams. Both players had solid years last year and each bring unique qualities to the team. Howell appears to be stronger in the run game and Adams appears to be stronger in the pass game. Both qualities are needed if the Colts defense is going to improve this year.
