The Kansas City Chiefs have as many unanswered questions as any team in the NFL. When training camp officially opens on July 24, several foggy situations will begin to become more clear. Here are the five most interesting story lines to follow.

Brandon Flowers is gone, and the Chiefs are going to need some young guys to step up. Marcus Cooper, Ron Parker, Chris Owens and rookie Phillip Gaines will be up for larger roles. It will be interesting to see who earns the coaching staff's trust, and in turn, more snaps on the field.

The Chiefs have four quarterbacks on the roster and may have to cut one. They have two interesting developmental prospects in Tyler Bray and Aaron Murray. Bray has progressed nicely, Murray is a rookie, and the other backup Chase Daniel, provides the only reliable insurance to an Alex Smith injury. It makes no sense to cut any of them, so the Chiefs will have to make a very tough decision or just keep four quarterbacks.

Travis Kelce and Demetrius Harris have yet to make a single catch in the NFL, but both have shown playmaking potential that has the coaching staff excited. Could one of these guys be Alex Smith's new Vernon Davis? There's certainly no doubting their athletic ability. Watching them progress in training camp should be fun.

Will he get the contract he wants? If not, how long will he hold out? If the holdout lasts, are Frank Zombo and Dee Ford ready to fill some big shoes on the first team. The situation could play out any number of ways, and its outcome will have a huge impact on the Chiefs in 2014.

Kansas City's wide receivers were the worst in the league in 2013. The Chiefs need guys to step up at the position. CFL product Weston Dressler and rookie De'Anthony Thomas are two exciting new guys who could bring something to the table. A.J. Jenkins and Junior Hemingway have also shown some nice potential. The Chiefs need to improve immensely at wide receiver this season. This depth-chart battle will be a very important one.
