The Houston Texans had themselves a busy offseason. Between losing several players and adding new ones, there has been a lot of turnover on Houston’s roster as the team prepares for the 2014 season. Some of these offseason additions have a lot to offer going into 2014.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is the very definition of a bridge quarterback. He will be an average starter in 2014 while rookie Tom Savage develops. Beyond 2014, Fitzpatrick isn’t worth much, but going into the season, he should be at least adequate as a starter.

When he was healthy with the New York Giants, Andre Brown was actually pretty productive. If he can stay healthy, he should fill the Ben Tate role for the Texans and be mildly productive behind starter Arian Foster.

One of my favorite picks of the entire draft, Louis Nix III has a lot to offer the Texans in both 2014 and beyond. Nix is a disruptive player in all aspects of the game, and with J.J. Watt beside him and Jadeveon Clowney also attracting attention, Nix will be a fun player to watch.

Without much competition on the roster, C.J. Fiedorowicz should make some noise for the Texans in his rookie season. He was widely regarded as the best blocker in this year’s tight end class, and with some improvement in his receiving numbers, Fiedorowicz could end up as a big weapon in this offense.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 draft is also the offseason addition with the most to offer the Texans in 2014. Clowney is an athletic freak, and despite the change in positions, he should dominate all season long. Simply put, Clowney is headed for big things in his rookie season.
