With training camp only weeks away, the New Orleans Saints look to be in for a big year. Both the offense and defense are stacked and the team is looking healthy, but what about the "he said, she saids" that are floating around the franchise? We could be in for some surprises this season, so let's take a look a five rumors surrounding the Black and Gold at the moment.
With the departure of Darren Sproles, RB Travaris Cadet figured to be in for an increased workload. Now, increased workload could be an understatement as rumors are floating about Cadet taking over the "Sproles role" in the backfield. His open-field speed, versatility and hands as a receiver make him a promising candidate, but ball security will still be something to focus on as a running back.
The New Orleans Saints all-time leading receiver Marques Colston has been bothered by several foot and knee injuries over the past several seasons. His stats took a little tumble last year, but apparently he is feeling great and healthy and expects no problems at training camp or when the season kicks off.
Saints No. 20 overall pick Brandin Cooks will have the opportunity to make a huge impact from day one. New Orleans is the perfect fit for who is probably the most versatile athlete the team has seen since Reggie Bush. With the power of that offense and Sean Payton's play-calling, Cooks seems to be climbing up the lists for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
The Jimmy Graham ordeal has been nothing but a mess in New Orleans for the past several months, and Saints Pro Bowl QB Drew Brees is apparently getting frustrated with the entire situation. He wants something to happen that will make both sides happy and is aching for Graham to get back with the team. That's his guy and he doesn't want to lose him.
The agonizing suspense over the Jimmy Graham situation remains afloat in the Big Easy, but latest rumors have the Saints and their tight end closing in on a long-term deal. This is something that needs to happen before the July 15 deadline, otherwise it could hurt the general flow of things on offense. QB Drew Brees needs his favorite target back on the field at training camp.
