According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Andre Johnson has told the Houston Texans that he would like to be traded. At 32-years-old, nobody can blame him for wanting to play for a contender. Johnson is still a top-10 wide receiver in the NFL, and would be an upgrade for many teams. Here are five teams that should seriously consider trading for his services.
The Eagles have an abundance of playmakers. However, they would be foolish not to consider adding a player of Johnson’s caliber to an already dynamic offense. Nick Foles needs all of the weapons possible if he's going to develop into Philadelphia's franchise quarterback.
Another team that doesn’t necessarily need the wide receiver, the Broncos would still benefit from his presence. With the loss of Eric Decker, Denver has made some moves to help their receiving core, but Johnson would add a completely different element. A team that is so close to a Super Bowl needs to pull out all the stops.
The Jets made a solid signing with Eric Decker, but he is really the only pass-catching threat they have. Johnson would slide right in and suddenly give the Jets a solid combination at the wide receiver position.
No doubt the Pats will be interested here. The fit seems ideal, and if Johnson is actually dealt, do not be surprised if he ends up in New England. Tom Brady needs a reliable option on the outside, and Johnson would be exactly what the doctor ordered.
As of now, a rookie wide receiver is Cam Newton’s No. 1 target. If Johnson is available, Carolina needs to be on the phone asking what it would take to acquire his services.
