The Carolina Panthers are under two weeks away from kicking off training camp. Behind Pro Bowl quarterback Cam Newton and one of the NFL's best defenses, Carolina will look to build upon last season's success and make a deeper run into the playoffs in 2014. Here are the five most important storylines to follow during training camp.

The Panthers selected defensive end Kony Ealy in the second-round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Ealy is a talented pass-rusher with great size and athleticism. The selection adds yet another talented defensive lineman to the mix for the Panthers. With so many good players along their defensive front, it will be interesting to see how the Panthers maximize Ealy's ability to get after the quarterback.

Charles Godfrey is an interesting player to watch during training camp. The veteran defensive back is attempting to return from a torn Achilles he suffered early last season. In addition to coming back from a major injury, Godfrey is also being called on to change his position. He will move from safety to corner this season to provide depth to one of the Panthers' weakest position groups.

3. The Offensive Line

Outside of center Ryan Kalil, the Panthers' offensive line is rather unsettled. Look for Amini Silatolu and rookie Trai Turner to win the starting guard spots during training camp. Nate Chandler is the early favorite to take over for Jordan Gross at left tackle, while the starting right tackle job will come down to a competition between Byron Bell and Garry Williams.

2. The Wide Receiver Competition

The Panthers will have an entirely new group of wide receivers in training camp this season. Quarterback Cam Newton no longer has his security blanket in Steve Smith or the big play ability of Ted Ginn to rely on this season. Instead, Newton will look to veterans such as Jerricho Cotchery and Jason Avant along with first-round pick Kelvin Benjamin to emerge as big-play receivers.

All eyes will be on the Cam Newton's surgically repaired ankle during training camp. Newton had offseason surgery which caused him to miss the majority of offseason workouts and minicamp. While Newton is well ahead of schedule in his recovery, the Panthers will still look to bring the Pro Bowl QB along slowly. His ability to gain familiarity with his new receivers despite limited repetitions will be key for Carolina.
