The New York Jets are a team with enough talent and quality coaching to surprise in 2014, but still enough questions to struggle. Here are five rumors surrounding Rex Ryan's club as training camp approaches.

Look for the Jets to at least try to lockup defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson, who is one of the club's primary building blocks on defense, to a long-term deal before the season. The Jets have plenty of cap space, and Wilkerson is fresh off a 10.5 sack campaign -- which is rare pass-rushing production for a 3-4 defensive end.

Former second-round pick Stephen Hill has yet to live up to his billing. Meanwhile, David Nelson, while not owning Hill's upside, has been more consistent as a possession receiver. Unless Hill has developed, expect Nelson to upset him in the battle for the starting role opposite the newly signed Eric Decker.

Some draft analyst suggested that Texas Tech tight end Jace Amaro was the top prospect at the position in May's draft class, but concerns about him leading up to the draft have appeared to manifest already. Reports have it that Amaro has appeared "lost" at times attempting to digest the Jets' pro-style offense after primarily lining up as a slot receiver in Texas Tech's spread attack.

It would be quite the surprise if first-round pick Calvin Pryor wasn't staring alongside Antonio Allen at safety come Week 1. Dawan Landry registered 100 tackles in 2013, but his struggles in coverage prompted New York to burn its first-round selection on Pryor. He'll still need a solid training camp and preseason to cement it, but all indications are that Pryor will be an immediate starter for the Jets.

When the Jets nabbed running back Chris Johnson in free agency, many assumed he'd be the offense's feature back. The backfield's other Chris, Chris Ivory, as the superior runner between the tackles, is expected to split the workload with Johnson, though, if Bilal Powell doesn't get in on the rotation as well.
