Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is one of, if not, the most polarizing figures in sports today; I guess that it comes with the territory, you know, of being America’s Team’s starting quarterback, and all.
I’ve studied Romo for quite some time and here are my top-5 things you have to love about Tony Romo.
Tony Romo is Houdini in the pocket; he has the uncanny ability to feel the pressure and escape pass-rushers. Granted, he’s not going to burn anyone for a 70-yard run as, say a Michael Vick in his prime would, but his athleticism is one of the reasons that he’s one of the most fun players to watch.
On and off the field, Tony Romo is one of the Cowboys’ most respected leaders. I don’t think there is any doubt about that. I look for him to truly expand his leadership role in 2014 because of the vast amount of young players on the team that will need guidance, and who better than Romo, to do just that?
Tony Romo is one tough dude. He’s had his fair share of injuries, but hasn’t let anything stand in his way as he tries to get the Cowboys to the Promised Land. Remember the game against the San Francisco 49ers where he led the team to a win despite broken ribs and a punctured lung? What about last season when he led the team to a win over Washington, after sustaining what would be a season-ending back injury? Romo is tough as nails.
Very few players can go from being undrafted to holding Cowboys’ and even NFL records, but Tony Romo has done just that. Not only that, but he’s also been handsomely compensated along the way.
Love him or hate him, there’s no denying that Tony Romo keeps the Cowboys relevant.
