With the Phillies having a dreadful season, all hope lie in the 2014 NFL Season for the Philadelphia Eagles. This is one of the most anticipated training camps and seasons within recent memory. Fans around the country see the potential and excitement on this team. There are a bunch of “what ifs,” but if those “what ifs” turn positive, then it will be a fun ride. Here are 10 reasons why fans should be pumped up for the 2014 season.
As of now, Malcolm Jenkins and Nate Allen are slated to start, but do not be surprised if Earl Wolff eventually supplants Allen. Expect these safeties to be a solid part for this defense.
While this guy will not go down as an all-time great, Cole has been extremely productive for the Eagles throughout his career. With a unrealistic salary heading into next season, 2014 could be Cole’s last as an Eagle, and fans should not take that for granted.
Kendricks has shown glimpses of being an all-pro. Look for him to take a dramatic step forward in 2014.
The defense overperformed in a lot of ways during the 2013 season. Now that the team is returning most of its starters, look for an even better improvement under Billy Davis in 2014.
Kelly has shown how innovative he can be in only one NFL season. Do not be surprised if he wows even more during his second.
Yes, Matthews will go through some rookie pains, but with his size and skill, he will no doubt provide some highlight plays.
Ertz began to show what he was capable of at the end of the 2013 season. He will be given every opportunity to break out in 2014, and fans should expect him to do just that.
Even with the subtraction of DeSean Jackson, the Eagles have a better collection of skilled position players this season. With the addition of Darren Sproles, the return of Jeremy Maclin, players previously discussed on this list and the QB and starting RB, the sky could be the limit for this offense.
There is a great chance that Foles will never duplicate a 27-to-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio. However, there is also a great chance he continues to take massive strides forward and becomes the elite QB this city has been craving.
At 26 years old McCoy already has an impressive NFL resume. He is clearly the most exciting player on this team, and will continue to be the workhorse for the foreseeable future.
