Players reported to training camp on Wednesday for the Indianapolis Colts which means the season is right around the corner. Colts fans have plenty of reasons to be excited this year. Between an improved front seven on defense and a deadly offense, Colts fans should expect big things from the team this year.

This is Chuck Pagano’s third year as the Indianapolis Colts head coach, and that is usually enough time to for a coach to get his system into the team and build a culture. He is one of the faces of the Colts franchise, and this year should be the year that his defense finally takes off. He is very charismatic when talking to the press, so it’s hard not to root for the guy this season.

The Colts have one goal in mind and that is to win the Super Bowl. They have a top ten quarterback in Andrew Luck and there is enough talent to make this offense become a top five in the NFL. The Colts added talent on defense to improve the run defense aspect of their team which should help greatly in December and January.

This year the Colts are loaded at the running back position with the three-headed monster featuring Ahmad Bradshaw, Trent Richardson and Vick Ballard. They each bring something that can help the Colts offense. The Colts have always stressed the running game too, so having those three in the backfield is a step in the right direction.

The addition of Rob Chudzinski should help with the emergence of Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen as big time players in the offense. He will also help the downfield passing game, and that could help T.Y. Hilton become an even bigger threat this season.

6. An Improved Front Seven

The Colts added a couple of new pieces in the offseason to improve their front seven and more specifically their run defense. The additions of D’Qwell Jackson and Arthur Jones were meant to help solve the run defense problem that killed them in the playoffs last year. It will also be interesting to see how far second-year player Bjoern Werner has come in his effort to replace Robert Mathis for the first four games.

The AFC South is the worst division in all of football. That means the Colts should have no problem defending their division crown this year. Winning their division should go a long way in reaching their Super Bowl goal.

The Colts open the season against the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football this year. They also play the New England Patriots on Sunday Night. It will be interesting to see them play Chip Kelly’s Eagles on Monday Night Football in Week 2 as well. The Colts come back to Monday Night Football on Nov. 3 when they play the New York Giants. There's a great slate of primetime games this year for Colts fans.

3. Great Wide Receivers

The Colts may have the deepest wide receiver group in the NFL. If Hakeem Nicks can return to form and Reggie Wayne can return from injury, then the Colts' offense can truly take off for 16 games this year. With Andrew Luck behind center there is no question the Colts' passing game can be elite this year.

The Colts added Jack Mewhort in the draft in order to improve their pass protection. Andrew Luck got hit way too many times last year, and if they can improve the interior pass protection then it will be interesting to see how much damage the QB can do.

He is the main reason why Colts fans should be excited for the next 10 years. He is already a top ten quarterback in the NFL, and he should be in the MVP conversation this year. He has a lot of talent around him on offense and should be in a lot of shootouts this year. He has the tape of an MVP quarterback; this year he will have the numbers of one too.
