With their decision to re-sign (extend) Jordy Nelson on a four-year, $39 million deal, the Green Bay Packers have made it clear that they don't view quite all of their receivers as expendable, replaceable parts. Here are 5 reasons why the Packers chose to keep Nelson around.

Nelson is one of Green Bay's many homegrown players, and he is by all accounts a consistently positive presence in the locker room. This is a particularly important trait for a wide receiver when his quarterback is somewhat ornery and sensitive, as many suggest Aaron Rodgers is.

All else being equal, you take the player who's won it all over the player who hasn't. Nelson was with the Packers for their Super Bowl win in 2010, going for 140 yards and a touchdown in the clincher against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The extension itself is a great deal for Green Bay as far as the financial aspect is concerned. Nelson is unquestionably one of the NFL's elite receivers, yet he's making essentially the same amount as Greg Jennings and Pierre Garcon.

2. Nelson's Talent

It often seems like Nelson has glue on his hands; the ball just sticks there as soon as he puts them up. He's not a burner, but he's very agile and may very well be the NFL's best at hauling in back-shoulder throws.

Nelson is clearly Rodgers' favorite receiver, and you can see why; the types of throws that Rodgers loves making are the ones that Nelson excels at bringing in for catches. The on-field connection that these two have developed is basically unstoppable in light of the fact that opposing defenses also need to worry about threats like Eddie Lacy and Randall Cobb at the same time.

Watch Fitzgerald Send Cardinals To NFC Title Game

I pronounce this the greatest game I've ever witnessed. There aren't enough words to describe the ebbs and flows that occurred during the fourth quarter of this NFC Divisional Playoff. Both teams should be proud of the way they played, but the Cardinals will be the ones moving on after this Larry Fitzgerald touchdown.

Watch Packers Complete Hail Mary As Time Expires

You have got to be kidding me! The Green Bay Packers sent the game to overtime with this insane Hail Mary completion. What are Patrick Peterson and Justin Bethel doing so deep in the end zone. This game has been absolutely insane.

Watch Cardinals' Palmer Throw Ugly Interception

For someone who played like a MVP all season long, Carson Palmer has looked anything but tonight against the Green Bay Packers. If he doesn't redeem himself in the fourth quarter, the No. 2 seed Arizona Cardinals will be sitting at home watching the playoffs with the rest of us next week.

Packers' Lacy Needs Oxygen After This Run

Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy doesn't look like he's missed any meals recently, if you catch my drift. Despite the extra weight he's carrying around these days, Lacy was able to bust out into the open field for this huge 61-yard run.
