Randall Cobb and the 10 Most Humble NFL Players in 2014

Humble NFL Players

Wide receiver Randall Cobb recently told reporters "I don't believe I've done enough" to earn a big-time contract extension from the Green Bay Packers. The comments come on the wake of teammate Jordy Nelson signing a four-year, $39 million extension. Obviously, Cobb is being incredibly modest, which got me thinking. Here’s a look at the 10 most humble players in the NFL in 2014.

Alex Smith started a foundation to help foster teens get the right guidance so that they can go to school and get jobs. The mentoring program helps the teens with their housing, education and internships. On top of that, the quarterback supplied food to the search parties for missing teen Sierra Lamar. He also has been selfless by supplying his teammates with a car or essential tools when they yet couldn’t afford it.

Wide receiver Marques Colston puts up insane numbers on the gridiron, but yet, he remains to be one of the quieter players in the league. No crazy celebrations and no calling out opponents in post-game interviews. He simply goes about his business. Despite signing a $36.3 million contract, Colston still only lives in a 0,000 house. Also, when asked what he bought with his new contract, it wasn’t anything elaborate. It was an Xbox.

Aaron Rodgers had a rocky road on his way to becoming the starting quarterback of the Green Bay Packers. Even though he was on top of the world during the team’s Super Bowl run, he constantly deflected questions about how stellar he was. Instead, he wanted to point to his teammates who deserved the credit for Green Bay’s success.

Luke Kuechly is one of the most prolific linebackers in the NFL. If anyone had a reason to be cocky about his play, it’s Kuechly. Yet, he remains to be as humble as can be. Kuechly lives in a one-bedroom apartment without television or internet. He has stated he enjoys to do school work or read a book instead of watch TV. Even more astonishing, his Defensive Player of the Year award is stashed away in a box at his parent’s house.

Russell Wilson had a busy road to professional football, which started when people told him he was too short to play quarterback in the NFL. Wilson always stayed determined that he could be someone who could play at a high level. He constantly gives back to the community, makes sure everyone knows it’s the team that deserves the credit and he never forgets where he came from.

Left tackle Joe Thomas is a true Wisconsin boy. Instead of going to New York for the NFL Draft, the No. 3 overall pick elected to go fishing with his father on Lake Michigan. He has been consistently one of the best left tackles in the game for the past five years, but yet, the casual fan wouldn’t know it because he doesn’t make a big deal about it.

Alfred Morris is said to be one of the most modest players in the NFL because he’s always true to his fans. He also isn’t a big-time spender (he still drives a ’91 Mazda), and he says his biggest regret in life was that he didn’t save his virginity for his future wife. You know, the woman he hasn’t even met yet.

John Sullivan could have made a big deal about how there was a dirty block on him that could have severely injured him. Even the media tried to turn it into a big deal following the game. However, Sullivan refused to let anyone get him amped up over it, which turned the potentially headline-grabbing story into nothing.

Cobb has done enough in the league to garner a decent contract extension from the Packers. I mean, the guy caught a last minute, epic pass from Rodgers to defeat the Chicago Bears and send Green Bay into the playoffs last season. His comments about how he hasn’t done enough prove that he’s the most humble player in the league this year.
