The Arizona Cardinals went 10-6 in 2013, finished third in the NFC West and were the best team to not make the playoffs. The Cardinals are in the middle of training camp, working to get their team in a position to make the playoffs in 2014. Here are five bold predictions for the Cardinals.

5. Andre Ellington Will Have a Pro Bowl Caliber Season

In his rookie season, the RB out of Clemson had 652 yards on 118 carries, averaging just over 5.5 yards per carry. He also had 39 receptions for 371 yards. Ellington is incredibly explosive. Look for him to become even more involved in the offense in his second season.

4. They Will Have at Least Three 1,000 Yard Receivers

Larry Fitzgerald is almost automatic here. In 10 seasons he has gone over 1,000 receiving yards six times and had 954 yards last season. Fitzgerald is the NFL’s second best WR behind only Detroit’s Calvin Johnson. Look for Ted Ginn Jr. (36 receptions for 556 yards with Carolina in 2013) and Michael Floyd (1,041 yards with Arizona in 2013) to each have over 1,000 yards receiving in 2014.

3. They Will Have More Than Three Nationally Televised Games

The Cardinals have three nationally televised games scheduled for 2014. Their Week 1 game against the Chargers is a Monday night game. Their Week 15 game at St. Louis is on Thursday Night Football and their Week 16 game against the Seattle Seahawks is scheduled to be nationally televised. The Cardinals are primed for a really good season, and with the NFL’s flex scheduling, the Cardinals could easily have a game or two flexed to time primetime.

2. They Will Make the Playoffs

The Cardinals were the best team to not make the playoffs last season. They play in the toughest division in football and in the tougher conference, but they will make the playoffs in 2014. They have one of the best WRs in the NFL in Larry Fitzgerald, a QB in Carson Palmer that can get him the ball and one of the best defenses in the NFL. The Cardinals could win 11 or 12 games, which should be good enough to take part in the postseason.

1. After the First Half of the Season They Will Be 7-1

This might be a bit too bold given that they went 10-6 in 2013 and they play the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3 and at Denver in Week 5. However, the rest of their first eight games are very winnable. They play the 49ers at home and they play Denver after their bye week (yes Denver has a bye in Week 4 too). The Cardinals defense has the talent to slow down Peyton Manning and the Broncos offense and they’ll have an extra week to prepare.
