The Baltimore Ravens have a talented roster that has improved greatly during the past five months. Baltimore is now ready to compete for an AFC North title with the likes of Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Cleveland, but some players, both young and old, will have to contribute in a big way this season for Baltimore to become a legitimate threat in the North.

Here are five bold predictions for Baltimore during its training camp sessions:

5. ILB C.J. Mosley Makes an Instant Impact on Defense

Mosley was one of the better players available in the 2014 NFL Draft and Baltimore had no problem spending their first-round pick on the former Alabama standout. Mosley is Day-1 starter material and should make an instant impact for the team as a rookie. Mosley could be in line for a Kiko Alonso-like rookie season for Baltimore, which is certainly something the team would enjoy after inconsistent linebacker play in 2013.

Pitta has been known as one of the NFL's more reliable tight ends in recent seasons, but in 2014, the young tight end will finally make himself a house-hold name. Pitta will be one of QB Joe Flacco's key targets this season and Flacco will likely rely on Pitta heavily as his safety valve. With TEs Owen Daniels and Crockett Gilmore behind him, Pitta can now be used as a "joker" tight end in a Jimmy Graham-type role.

Baltimore paid Flacco the big bucks after he helped deliver a championship two seasons ago. Flacco is now one of the NFL's top-paid signal callers, but he struggled a bit in 2013 behind a terrible offensive line. Flacco now has an improved offensive line and much better weapons to help him regain his 2012 postseason form. Look for Flacco to come out of training camp firing.

2. Matt Elam and Terrence Brooks Form an Elite Safety Tandem

Elam played well in 2013 for Baltimore after being the team's top draft selection and will look to make a name for himself in 2014. Alongside Elam will be one of the 2014 class' most underrated safety prospects in Florida State's Terrence Brooks, who was overshadowed by numerous players on a championship defense. Brooks and Elam compliment each other well. Look for the two young safeties to create one heck of a duo.

Pierce is one heck of a No. 2 back and I cannot speak highly enough of him as I mentioned on my podcast this past Saturday night. His strength, vision and all-around ability to be a No. 1 back is quite intriguing and I do not believe Baltimore has yet to even tap into his potential. Rice is going to be sitting on the bench for two games to open 2014 due to a suspension by the league and that leaves the door open for Pierce to bolt through.
