2015 NFL Draft: DE Markus Golden May Be Special
In the 2014 NFL Draft, two defensive ends were selected from the University of Missouri in Kony Ealy and Michael Sam; however, 2015 prospect Markus Golden could be better than both his former teammates. With tremendous pass-rushing talent and a relentless work ethic, Golden has a bright NFL future ahead of him. Remember the name Markus Golden, ladies and gentlemen, because he’s going to be a special player.
Despite playing in only about 40 percent of Missouri’s defensive snaps in 2013, Golden was still able to rack up 6.5 sacks, really showing some tremendous potential in the process. With a non-stop motor and great speed for the position, Golden is able to blow past opposing lineman, and he constantly puts pressure on quarterbacks.
You’d like to see Golden improve in the running game and get stronger, but his type of talent doesn’t come around often. Despite his lack of top-notch power, Golden uses his hands well, and he has the potential to develop into a solid run-stuffer. Without Ealy and Sam in front of him in Missouri’s defensive line rotation, Golden will get his chance to shine, and he will take advantage.
Without question, Markus Golden is a guy who NFL team’s are going to fall in love with. With his pass-rushing talent, prototypical size and motor, Golden will make a big impact as a situational pass-rusher right away at the next level. He needs to become stronger and more aggressive in the run game, but the talent is there for improvement.
Golden is a special prospect, and it will show this season.
