In recent years, Alabama safeties Mark Barron and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix have been highly regarded in NFL circles. However, there’s a new safety in Alabama who could outshine both Barron and Clinton-Dix.

Landon Collins, the athletic safety, has all the talent in the world, and he looks like a future star. If everything goes as planned in 2014, Collins could cement himself as the next great Alabama safety to go to the NFL.

Collins is actually very reminiscent of his former-teammate Clinton-Dix, in that he has great coverage ability and is also a great athlete. That said, Collins is even better in the run game than Clinton-Dix, and a case could be made that Collins is actually a better athlete than his former teammate.

As a mentioned earlier, Collins particularly stands out in stopping the run. Collins isn’t afraid to play aggressive, and when the opportunity is there, you know Collins will make a play. A fairly consistent tackler, Collins also has the occasional big hit, and there’s no doubt that with better coaching at the next level, he could develop into a real nightmare for offenses to handle.

All in all, Collins is one of my favorite prospects in the 2015 draft, and I fully expect him to be a great player at the next level. He has the athletic ability, coverage skills and reliability to be an instant starter, and his long-term potential is truly something special. Do yourself a favor, ladies and gentlemen, remember the name Landon Collins.
